ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Maj. Gen. (Dr.) R.M. Kharb, AVSM has spent nearly four decades breeding , rearing, training and treating dogs. As a young captain of the Remount & Veterinary Corps(RVC) he successfully commanded two Army Dog Units in counter-insurgency operations.
Decorated twice--by the Chief of Army Staff with his commendation medal, and by the President of Indian on 26th Jan 1996 with the 'Ati Vishisht Seva Medal'--Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Kharb, AVSM is a fellow of the National Academy of Veterinary Sciences, India.
He also has the singlular distinction of introducing a new versatile breed--the Belgian Shepherd--in the Indian Army.
