Erich Segal had originally intended Love Story to be a screenplay. It was first released as a book and went on to storm the publishing world. It featured for 41 weeks on The New York Times Bestselling List and was translated into 20 languages. The movie followed the book in the year 1970. It was nominated for seven Academy Awards and won five Golden Globes.
